So after a week of back and forth between me and the seller and to last issues over the weekend I finally bought a truck and ended up with it in my driveway Sunday night!

Kinja'd!!!

There she sits in my driveway - a 90 Mazda B2600i with 4x4 and a 5 speed. It runs, drives and is in generally shape with a few issues. I’ll detail it up in a later post but for now I’m excited!

Awesome purchase!  I’ve always had a huge soft spot for the late 80s early 90s all Mazda B series!  Very Very cool!

Will do - I'll take a bunch and detail what she needs probably later this week.

I’m on the fence about them. They’re 17's which gives me a good choice of rubber. I don’t lo ve the look but they're growing on me.

Yeah, I've owned a couple rangers and have high hopes for this guy as a beater.

Nothing else looks like that... very few models came with a tri-spoke..

Kinja'd!!!

What’s the alternative? , most current wheels are some sort of mouth- breather specials;

I think the early models were not ranger based, more Courier cousin.

The Courier was a B series pickup rebranded. But these are still a solely Mazda construction. They didn't become Rangers until 94.

They are definitely unique. If I replace them it be with a set of 17" black steelies.

It took a lot of aggravation, but I'm glad to have the truck.  Some things need fixed, but overall it's in good shape.

That’s what I thought.  I always liked them better for that reason.  I had a couple B series that were ranger based and I had nothing but issues with them.

I think the ranger/mazda mashup started in the mid 90's, this is still a mazda through and through.

Interestingly my Isuzu also has a 2.6L inline 4 banger.

I will definitely update everyone with thoughts of driving a 30 year old pickup regularly

I had a 94 ranger for about a year a little while back and it was always broken. I ended up selling the damn thing for scrap.

That’s awesome. Mine made a roaring 120HP from the factory!

Isuzu trucks were also on my search list, but there are very few left anymore.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

In North America, the TF series appeared in 1988 as simply the “Isuzu Pickup”. Produced at Lafayette, Indiana , Isuzu continued on with the TF until 1996 when it was finally replaced with the Hombre (a badged-engineered Chevrolet S-10 ). The only engines available were the 96 hp (72 kW) 2.3-liter 4ZD1 , the 120 PS (88 kW; 118 hp) 2.6-liter 4ZE1 and the GM 3.1-liter V-6 (designation LG6) producing 120 hp (89 kW) and 170 lbft (230 Nm) for the ‘91–’94 model years. [25] This truck holds the distinction of becoming the last carbureted passenger vehicle sold new in the United States (1994 model year). The truck continued to be sold in Mexico, and Latin America until production ended in 2016.

Can’t say if you’re being sarcastic or not lol

Oldest vehicle I’ve owned is 18 years old. A car built a decade before that is something foreign to me.

I’m being serious. I’ve owned several old cars and they’re different for sure but I’ll be happy to share thoughts. I’ve never had an old Japanese car so it’s a new experience for me.

I have owned a lo t of old Japanese motorcycles though so I hope it's similar to that...

My 95 B3000 was like that.  So was the 2001 B2500.  So I sold it as soon as it was fixed enough to pass inspection.

Yes, PO installed it as he said it didn’t like to start when cold without it.  Tinkering with the truck there’s definitely a cold start hesitation I might need to fix later.

I’ve lived in Minnesota, Chicago, and now St. Louis. I’ve only seen them in Minnesota. That’s crazy on a Missouri truck.

I like the patina on the hood. Are you going to leave it? I would paint that bumper though.

I’m in St Louis and have only used them on old diesels.

The bumper will probably get repainted but I’ll leave the rest of the truck for a while. It’s going to be a beater pickup for things like landscaping, home depot, dump runs, hunting and so on. It won’t be daily driven but it should get relatively regular  use once I get it sorted.
